ACTOR
Saikat has been an actor for over fifteen years, during which time he has worked in all aspects of the business. In 2017 he played La Fleche in The Miser at The Garrick Theatre in the West End and directly before that, Tinkerbell in Peter Pan at The National Theatre directed by Sally Cookson. Sally has also directed him in Treasure Island in which he played Ben Gunn (Bristol Old Vic).
Other theatre credits include Cinderella and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (both Tobacco Factory), A Fine Balance (Tamasha), East is East (Oldham Coliseum), Journey to the West (Tara Arts) and Romeo and Juliet (Settle Festival Theatre) in which he played Mercutio. He has also toured the USA and the Far East in Tom Morris' production of A Midsummer Night's Dream as well being directed in the same play by Trevor Nunn. Film and TV work includes This Must be the Place (Indigo Films), Trollied (Sky TV), The Choir (Sky Atlantic) and Being Human (BBC). He was also fortunate enough to be part of the movie of East is East, one of the most successful British comedies of all time. In 2006 Saikat received the Norman Beaton Fellowship and has since worked extensively on radio. For a number of years he played the regular part of Vinnie on Silver Street for the BBC Asian Network.
