THE PAINTED TEAPOT

​After her husband dies, sexagenarian Binu has an epiphany; weighing up the cost of a whole life of putting others first, she decides to take back what’s hers, literally; a museum heist offers her and her accomplices a thrilling final adventure pulling them into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a bullish DI and an unwavering PC. Loyalties will be tested, friendships will be strained, lines will be crossed. Tea will be drunk. ​

Developed during my time with BBC Voices, The Painted Teapot is a dark comedy drawing together themes that fascinate me as a writer; aging, decolonisation, and grief. The story is located in my home city of Bristol which has been at the forefront of discussions around decolonising history and reparations due to its’ history with slavery and recent events around the toppling of Colston statue.

I have written a series outline of the show and am currently writing the pilot episode.
