DRAMATURG
"I’ve had the pleasure of working with Saikat on many projects. As well as being a wonderful actor and collaborator, his knowledge of narrative structure has been invaluable during the devising process. He brings a plethora of skills into the room with him!"

I am an experienced dramaturg; my practice has been developed through curiosity, collaboration, and an understanding of the ways stories move between page, stage, and audience. My dramaturgical practice is rooted in my experience as a writer and as an actor deviser.
SCRIPT SUPPORT
|
I can support your work as a writer by helping you to sharpen the key elements of structure, character and narrative within your script.
How it works:

"Saikat's dramaturgy was helpful, collaborative and considerate. He really made an effort to understand the play and what I was trying to do with it, and used that to give feedback and ask questions. The metaphors and visuals he suggested enabled me to approach and understand my play in a new way, helping me develop it to a much stronger place" Hannah Ali Khan, Writer Cancer B*tch |
SUPPORTING THE DEVISING PROCESS
I can work with you and your team across a project to support the development of a new piece. This draws on my experience both as a writer and as an actor in devised theatre.
How it works:
How it works:
- First we will have a conversation about your project and what support you're after. During this conversation, we will agree on the scope of my engagement and the rate of pay.
- I will then work with you to support your process by asking questions and offering ideas to ensure that the material being created through the rehearsal/devising process is accurately captured. This might involve regular conversations, script input or being part of the team and attending all rehearsals.
- Through this I will support the development of a final piece and/or script as appropriate to your project.

"Saikat was the Dramaturg on our latest show, Minny Stynker, as well as a performer during the R&D for the same show the year before. He adapted the picturebook to a stage play throughout our devising process, and was endlessly patient with making edits throughout as we worked. A lovely presence in the rehearsal room, full of humour, as well as being a true professional, with bags of experience you can rely on." Tomasin Cuthbert Menes Artistic Director SoapSoup Arts |
