I currently offer the following masterclasses and workshops: 
SOLO PERFORMANCE: A MASTERCLASS
(Flying Solo)
This masterclass explores the pragmatic side of producing solo shows and the artistic possibilities of this particular style of performance; I draw on my experience of three produced solo pieces which have (between them) played the Edinburgh Fringe, Alchemy Festival Southbank, been included in the Guardian Reader's Top Shows (2015) and toured the length and breadth of the UK. Topics covered in the masterclass include
  • how to approach venues and what to offer them
  • what items are vital when touring a solo show
  • how the audience is actual part of the narrative
  • the importance of pacing and pauses
DEVISING: A MASTERCLASS
(How to stop your brain getting in the way of your creativity)
Devising is one of the most collaborative and creative ways to build theatre, constantly dynamic, exploratory and evolving.
In this all day masterclass, I draw on my extensive experience of devising shows for Bristol Old Vic, Tobacco Factory Theatres and The National Theatre to bring theatre makers into the world of devising. Topics include
  • drawing on the actors inner life
  • letting go of ego, devising as communist theatre
  • the importance of structure to creativity  
WORKSHOP: THE PLACE AND THE PLAY
(How to write for site specific theatre)
This workshop looks at the challenges and opportunities of making site specific theatre and specifically how a script should respond to the location organically. In order to achieve this, participants will learn to
  • Look for creative possibilities in the real world.
  • Think about story in a new way.
  • ​Explore location as a character.
WORKSHOP: WHAT'S REAL ANYWAY
(How to make autobiographical theatre)
This workshop looks at how to authentically and ethically draw from one's own life to make theatre. through different activities, I encourage participants to explore not only how we make theatre but why we make theatre. Topics covered in this workshop include
  • It may be your life but that does not make you the hero.
  • Different forms of truth, factual and artistic.
  • Finding universality in specificity.
  • The ethical conundrum of autobiographical work.
